FAQ

More About Microblading

Scalp Micropigmentation is the process of creating the illusion of hair follicles with the use of a specially designed pigment.

SMP can be used to fix your thinning hairline, fill in bald spots, hide failed hair transplant, and it can make surgery scars disappear.

Our complimentary consultation starts with a conversation about your hair-loss patterns. Next, we’ll go over your current health, medical history, and the health of your scalp and hair follicles to determine if you’re a candidate for this procedure.

We’ll then discuss your expectations for your desired look and end results with our SMP technician who will then give you an approximate estimate of cost and number of sessions needed.

The SMP Digital Machine and a Tattoo Gun are two different types of machines that have different functions.

For instance, the tattoo machine pierces deeper into the skin which creates trauma to the skin, and also makes the ink permanent. Furthermore, the ink used for tattoos heal differently. It has a tendency to turn blue.

The Scalp Micropigmentation Digital Machine penetrates only the top layer of the skin. This allows for less trauma to the skin and gives a more realistic hair follicle look. The ink used for SMP is more pigment based and heals properly.

With all semi-permanent makeup procedures it is the practitioner’s responsibility to make sure that there are no contraindications to treatment. If there is a medical condition the clinic doctor will be consulted prior to treatment. REMEMBER: We have your best interests in mind.

Each session can take between one to four hours and you’ll be in a calm and relaxing room in a very comfortable reclining chair. For most people, SMP is a fairly pain-free procedure, as the SMP technician uses an effective, medical-grade topical anesthetizing cream to gently numb each area. Although each individual is different, most people feel little to no discomfort.

What To expect

Pre-Care & After Care

Pre-Care Instructions

If you are okay with this, you should shave your head before the first session takes place. There are a few reasons to achieve this:

The shock after the first session will be lessened.

You can find all marks and scars, which you may decide to leave or cover with the treatment.

If you suffer from dry skin, this will give you the opportunity to moisturise properly before you undergo treatment.

If you are tanned, you can give your scalp some time to balance out the colours.

The most important thing to consider is moisturising, as you will need to do this at least 3-4 times a day in the final days leading to your treatment. You should not be worried about the particular moisturiser you use, you just make sure that you give your technician a healthy canvas to work on, without any dry spots to impede the process.

If you wish to use painkillers, you should start making the choice of what to use as early on as possible or otherwise you may forget about it. Do not be overly concerned however, as scalp micropigmentation treatments only usually involve mild discomfort that is perfectly manageable.

After Care Instructions

  • Do not wash your head in any way for at least 3 days following a treatment.

  • Do not go to gyms, saunas, beaches or other places where you can sweat.

  • On the fourth day you can use only water to wash your scalp, and start moisturizing for the next session.

  • Any abrasive factors such as sunbathing, exfoliating or heavy sweating should be avoided for a month after the final treatment.

After the first week, you may resume swimming, sweating, and exposure to the sun, but it’s extremely important to moisturize daily and use sunscreen with at least 30 SPF. This is vital to the overall maintenance and protection of the SMP to maintain its natural look.
